The amber color is pure, unlike ordinary bulbs that filter white light, and has been specifically selected to reduce attraction of insects, turtles and other wildlife. The bulb has been recognized by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as meeting wildlife friendly criteria and is well suited for use in sensitive coastal areas frequented by nesting sea turtles. This excellent downlight emits the equivalent of a 50 watt incandescent bulb yet consumes only 5.8 watts, a 70% savings.
